One of the symptoms of a
yeast infection is the vaginal discharge. This would be a thick discharge
that looks like cottage cheese. However, only about 1 in every 5 women
experience this particular symptom. Also, for some women, there may
not be an odor associated with the discharge.
Since 80% of women with a
yeast infection do not get symptoms (discharge), one of the easiest
symptoms to spot is vaginal itching. If the area around the vagina is
burning and itchy then there is a good chance that she may have a yeast
infection.
Urination and sexual intercourse
can be painful. If you experience the symptoms of having an itchy, swollen
and painful vaginal area then it is possible that you have a yeast infection.
However, it can be difficult to differentiate between a yeast infection
and a urinary tract infection.
When a woman urinates, if
she has a urinary tract infection, the burning sensation will start
before the urine reaches the vulva. If it is a yeast infection, the
burning will not start until the urine reaches the vulva. This can be
very difficult to differentiate. It's one of the reasons why woman should
always seek help from their doctor when they suspect that they might
have some of the symptoms of a yeast infection.
